This poem was written in English by Mary Frye, an American housewife, who is known for this only poem she wrote. Mary Frye wrote this poem for a Jewish girl in 1932, to communicate her sorrow for losing her mother and was unable to return to Germany because of the antis-Semitic atrocities going on there at that time. This poem has been used to communicate their own personal sorrows.
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there.
I did not die.
ಅಳಬೇಡ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ನಿಂತು ನನ್ನ ಮಸಣದ ಮುಂದೆ;
ಅಲಿಲ್ಲ ನಾನು. ನಿದ್ರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ನಾನು.
ಬೀಸುವ ಸಾವಿರ ಗಾಳಿಗಳು ನಾನು.
ಹಿಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಿರುಗುವ ವಜ್ರದ ಹೊಳಪು ನಾನು.
ಕಳಿತ ಕಾಳಮೇಲಿನ ರವಿಕಿರಣ ನಾನು.
ಶರತ್ಕಾಲದ ಹಗುರ ಮಳೆ ನಾನು.
ಬೆಳಗಿನ ಮೌನದಲಿ ಎದ್ದಾಗ ನೀನು,
ಚಂಗನೆ ಮೇಲೆದ್ದು ಸುತ್ತಿ ಹಾರುವ
ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಳ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆ ನಾನು.
ನಿಶೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಿನುಗುವ ಸೌಮ್ಯ ತಾರೆ ನಾನು.
ಅಳಬೇಡ ನನ್ನ ಮಸಣದ ಮುಂದೆ;
ಅಲಿಲ್ಲ ನಾನು.
ಅಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ ನಾನು.
