POEM: ಯಾಕೆ ಕಾಡುತಿದೆ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ನನ್ನನು?

ಯಾಕೆ ಕಾಡುತಿದೆ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ನನ್ನನು

ಯಾವುದು ಈ ರಾಗ

ಒಂದೇ ಸಮನೆ ಹಾಯುತಲಿದೆ ಅರಿವಿಗೆ

ಗುರುತೇ ತಪ್ಪಿದಾಗ?

Why this needless bother

Which is this lilt

That nudges senses perpetually

Yet leaves no clue?

.

ಯಾವುದೋ ವಸಂತ ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲಿ

ಹೊಳೆದ ತಾರೆ ನೆನಪಾಗುತಿದೆ

ಮಸುಕು ನೆನಪುಗಳ ಮಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ

ಮನಸು ಒಂದೇ ಸಮ ತೋಯುತಿದೆ.

Reminiscing some spring night

Of shimmering stars

While the mind is drenched

In relentless rain of cloaked memories.

.

ಕರುಳ ಕೊರೆವ ಚಳಿ ಇರುಳಿನಲಿ

ಪ್ರಾಣಕೆ ಮೊಳೆಯುವ ನೋವಿನಲಿ

ಅರಸಿ ಅಲೆವೆ ನಾ ಸುರಿಸುತ ಕಂಬನಿ

ಕಳೆದ ರಾಗಗಳ ಕೊರಗಿನಲಿ.

In night’s gut freezing cold

And life’s nail piercing pain

I wander pouring tears of grief

Brooding over the lost tunes.
